Tickets available to campus community beginning March 30
In celebration of Earth Day 2015, Rider University’s Office of Sustainability will present “Bill Nye the Science Guy” on Thursday, April 23, at 7 p.m. in the Cavalla Room.
Nye is an American science educator, comedian, television host, actor, writer, scientist, and former mechanical engineer who is best known as the host of the Disney/PBS children’s science show, Bill Nye the Science Guy, and for his many appearances in popular media as a science educator.
Nye’s national popularity boomed from 1993 to 1998 as he hosted 100 episodes of Bill Nye the Science Guy, wearing his signature light blue lab coat and bow tie. The show aimed to teach a specific topic in science to a preteen audience, yet it garnered a wide adult audience too. The show became a popular teaching aide in schools.
Melissa Greenberg, Rider’s sustainability manager, said Nye’s presentation at Rider will focus on climate change.
The event is free and open to students, faculty and staff only. One ticket per person will be available on a first come, first served basis beginning Monday March 30 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the BLC Box Office. A valid Rider ID is required to receive a ticket. A limited quantity of tickets are available.
