Dailey was an associate professor in the College of Business Administration’s Information Systems and Supply Chain Management Department
It is with deep sadness that Rider University announces the passing of Dr. James W. Dailey, 71, associate professor in the College of Business Administration’s Information Systems and Supply Chain Management Department.
Dailey joined Rider University in 1976 as an assistant professor of decision sciences. He became acting chair of the department in 1988 and served as chair from 1995 to 2002. In 1989 Jim Dailey received the Lindback Award for Outstanding Teacher and the Dean’s Award for Special Recognition. He was also a member of the Faculty Grade Review Panel for many years.
Over the past several decades, Dailey taught a variety of courses, including programming, introductory computing courses, and most recently an upper-level course dealing with integrated business processes using SAP software. He enjoyed sharing his passion for computers, especially teaching hands-on labs, with generations of Rider students.
Outside the classroom, Dailey participated in a Barbershop Quartet for many years. He was also involved in many of the university’s theatre productions.
Dailey earned his bachelor’s degree from Boston College; his master’s degree from Case Institute of Technology, and his doctorate from Case Western Reserve University, all in mathematics.
Dailey resided in Trenton, N.J. His funeral service will be held in Boston, and burial will be private. At his family’s request, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22311 or www.diabetes.org/donate.
