Stéphane Natan was raised and educated in France, where he received his college education. He holds multiple degrees, including several in French language and literature, one in classics, and one in philosophy. Specializing in seventeenth-century French literature, he received a Ph.D. with distinction from the Université Jean Moulin in Lyon in 2003.

In 1997, Stéphane Natan was awarded the Prix Giraudoux literary prize by the Fondation Jean et Jean-Pierre Giraudoux, and in 2005 he received the Chancellor’s Outstanding Teaching Award from the University of Tennessee.

In 2004, Stéphane Natan published a book, Les Pensées de Pascal : D’un projet apologétique à un texte poétique (Paris: Connaissances & Savoirs). In addition, his scholarly articles have appeared in peer-reviewed journals in various countries and continents: Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Hungary, the United Kingdom, and the United States. From 2011 to 2023, he was the editor in chief of L’Érudit franco-espagnol (LEF-E), an online peer-reviewed journal of French and Hispanic literatures.
