Joanna Kubik, MSW, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Sociology, Criminal Justice, and Social Work department at Rider University. Her expertise is in youth recidivism, gang involvement, and best practice interventions for at-risk youth. Her work aims to inform policy, research, and practice concerning the treatment of youth who are at increased risk of entering the justice system. Kubik has worked extensively with community agencies to connect at-risk and gang involved youth to evidence-based intervention services, including Community Solutions, Inc. and Big Brothers Big Sisters. She co-authored two book chapters addressing the problems of gangs and gang members in the justice system (Kubik et al., 2017 and Kubik & Boxer, 2022). Her work on justice-involved youth and gang involvement has been featured in the following journals: Journal of Gang Research, Youth Services Review, Child Abuse & Neglect, and Youth Violence & Juvenile Justice.
