Dr. Sean McCarther will deconstruct the common warm-ups used in voice lessons to determine how they affect the vocal mechanism.
Every lesson and choral rehearsal begins with a warm-up. These warm-ups allow singers to settle in for the work ahead and begin to prime the vocal instrument. Sneaky teachers can also use the vocal warm-up to teach new technical concepts. In this session, we will discuss several common warm-ups used in voice lessons and choral rehearsals, deconstructing them to determine how they affect the vocal mechanism. The presentation addresses the needs of both private voice instructors and choir directors and will provide both with practical ways to apply technical concepts in their lessons and rehearsals.
