Applied Psychology, M.A. (ABA)

Clinical Mental Health Counseling, M.A.

Counseling Services, Ed.S.
Rider’s Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) provides advanced training for professional counselors in the expanding demands of their profession. Blending theory and practical application, our program provides opportunities for those seeking a career change, specialization in a specific area and broadening skill development.

Dance/Movement Therapy Concentration
The Dance/Movement Therapy concentration in Rider’s M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program will enable you to combine your passion for dance with your desire to help others. You will be able to help people with anxiety, depression, disordered eating, poor self-esteem, post traumatic psychosis, addictions, autism, developmental disabilities and dementia, among others.
Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) Concentration
Rider’s M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC), is a pre-approved program that meets all the educational and course work requirements for the LCADC as stipulated by the Addiction Professionals Certification Board of New Jersey (APCBNJ). Rider’s CMHC graduates are able to acquire up to 337.5 hours of alcohol and drug education. Our selected internships allow our students to meet the experience and supervised hours required in core function areas. Both our M.A. and Ed.S. degree graduates who take our clinical supervision training and course work, meet the requirement to eventually become Approved Clinical Supervisors (ACS) as stipulated in N.J.A.C. 13:34C-6-2(a) AND National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). LCADC ensures that the competencies required for alcohol and drug counseling are met.
Approved Clinical Supervisor Certificate
Take the COUN 660: Counseling Services, Issues, Concepts and Methods course and meet the educational requirements for the Approved Clinical Supervisor Certificate in New Jersey. This course introduces and critically examines issues and concepts that arise in the supervision of counseling and psychotherapy practitioners and trainees.
Life and Career Coaching Certificate
The life and career coaching certificate prepares students to assist clients in achieving goals in areas such as life transitions, significant relationships, physical health, emotional well-being, career choices and spirituality. Rider’s certificate program is designed to meet the educational requirements for certification as a Board Certified Coach through the Center for Credentialing and Education, Inc.
Student Assistance Coordinator (SAC)
The student assistance coordinator (SAC) certificate is intended for students interested in the school counseling profession. The SAC plays a specialized counseling role in schools to support students with social, emotional and behavioral issues.
