The Joan Lavine Keats Social Justice Institute of The Koppelman Holocaust/Genocide Resource Center at Rider University.
Joan Lavine Keats was one of the founding members of the Koppelman Center. She was an outstanding educator who believed in the influence of education in inculcating social values. The Institute established in her name seeks to support teachers who are committed to furthering social justice in their teaching.
Who should apply: Kindergarten through twelfth grade teachers who are concerned with confronting prejudice and furthering social justice through the study of the Holocaust or other genocides in their curriculum are eligible for teaching grants.
To apply, teachers must submit a two to three page proposal describing how they include the topic of the Holocaust or other genocides in their classroom and how they would use the grant to assist their teaching. The grant can be used for field trips (e.g., visit to Holocaust Museum), speakers, videos, books or any other relevant materials. Teachers must include costs in their grant applications.
Deadline: The grant application form MUST be submitted to the Koppelman Center no later than October 28, 2016.
