Rider University’s Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa recently received a 2011-12 Circle of Distinction certificate from the National Leadership Honor Society. The honor marks the significant achievement of meeting all of ODK’s high standards of excellence.
ODK not only promotes the personal and professional development of its members, but also seeks to encourage leadership development for all students at Rider University through a variety of workshops and opportunities.
“I have had the honor of advising Omicron Delta Kappa since 2010, and with the support of the student leaders who have dedicated their time to lead this organization over the past few years, we have been able to facilitate the growth and visibility of our Circle at Rider,” said Laura Seplaki, associate director of the Center for the Development of Leadership Skills, who serves as the Rider Circle’s faculty secretary. “We are proud to have been awarded this distinction, and with the new programs and membership requirements the Executive Board has implemented for this year, I am assured ODK will continue to contribute to the Rider community and be recognized for its accomplishments.”
This semester, ODK is offering a number of programs for its members:
Thursday, October 11: Midnight MAACness Pre-Event Leadership Discussion with Kevin Baggett
November: Brown Bag Lunch with Dr. Brown
Tuesday, November 6: Presidential Leadership Exchange featuring Tom Marino ’69, a Rider Board of Trustee member
Friday, November 16: ODK Induction Ceremony
The Balanced Leader Series, which includes three workshops, including Mindfulness (Wednesday, October 10), Nourishing the Soul (Wednesday, October 24), and Emotional Intelligence (Wednesday, November 7)
Juniors and seniors, who have a 3.25 or above, are invited to apply. Applicants must demonstrate significant leadership contribution within these areas: scholarship; athletics; campus/community service; social/religious activities; campus government; journalism, speech and the mass media; and creative and performing arts.
