Dr. Marge O’Reilly-Allen, chair of the Department of Accounting, was chosen as the recipient of the inaugural Chairperson Leadership Award
Dr. Marge O’Reilly-Allen, chair of the Department of Accounting, was chosen as the recipient of the inaugural Chairperson Leadership Award. The announcement was made by Dr. Donald Steven, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, at Rider's 148th Commencement ceremonies on May 16 and 17.
“I am deeply honored to have been selected as the first recipient of this prestigious award. On behalf of all the chairs, I want to thank President (Mordechai) Rozanski for establishing this award, which recognizes the chairs’ contribution to the success of our programs,” O’Reilly-Allen said. “The most important thanks go to the members of the Accounting department. We are a great team and it is a pleasure to serve as chair.”
The selection committee, consisting of Dr. Steven Lorenzet, dean of the College of Business Administration; Dr. Patricia Mosto, dean of the College of Liberal Arts, Education, and Sciences; Dr. Sharon Sherman, dean of the School of Education; Dr. Ronald Hemmel, professor of Music; and Dr. Carol Nicholson, professor of Philosophy, made the selection from among the distinguished awards nominations they received. The criteria include the responsible and professional management of the department; mentoring and professional communication; and innovation.
“The selection committee was particularly impressed with her exemplary efforts in the areas of service to students, curriculum development, accreditation and external relations,” Steven said in his announcement. “In summary, Dr. O’Reilly-Allen is a highly effective chairperson and leader and a most deserving recipient of the Chairperson Leadership Award.”
O'Reilly-Allen was presented with her award at the Lawrenceville Commencement ceremonies.
