The Center for the Development of Leadership Skills formally inducted 50 new members into its Leadership Development Program during an induction ceremony, which was held on Saturday, November 5, in the Bart Luedeke Center Theater during Family Weekend.
The Leadership Development Program (LDP) is a university-wide program that welcomes all majors. The guiding assumption underlying this program is that everyone has an opportunity to be a leader and a role model for someone. In order to be considered for the program, a student must apply.
“The LDP induction ceremony is a wonderful opportunity for both students and their families to fully comprehend the commitment that Rider has to developing competent and skilled leaders,” said Laura Seplaki, director of LDP. “Our newest inductees bring the LDP’s total membership to 125 students who represent all of the colleges at Rider. We are excited to have so many students chose to make the LDP a part of their intentional journey to develop their leadership capacities.”
Students who successfully complete LDP receive Certificate in Leadership at graduation, as well as valuable skills to use in their chosen career. Requirements include completion of the LDP 200: Foundations of Leadership Course, an ethics or multicultural studies elective and leadership skills seminars, as well as participation in co-curricular and experiential leadership opportunities and career development activities. A second application process for the Leadership Development Program will be held in the spring 2012 semester.
