In an effort to make the process of choosing and applying for a study abroad program even easier, the Center for International Education offers students a number of fairs, information sessions and opportunities each semester to meet other students with abroad experience.
This fall semester, the Center will begin offering a new feature that will allow students to apply for study abroad programs directly online through StudioAbroad, a study abroad management system.
“The study abroad management system will better streamline our processes in the Center,” explained Sarah Young-Singh, assistant director of the Center for International Education. “The interactive system will allow students to apply online and receive an immediate response about their application status.”
Students seeking a study, internship or volunteer experience abroad are encouraged to attend the Center for International Education’s Study Abroad Fair on Tuesday, September 14. The fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Princeton Room in Daly Dining Hall. Those who attend the fair will have the opportunity to meet with Rider’s study abroad providers, including AHA International; API; IFSA-Butler; ISA; GlobaLinks; AIFS; Alliance; CAPA; and CFAM.
“All students who are interested in educational opportunities abroad are encouraged to attend. They can get detailed information about Rider’s study abroad programs by meeting with providers one to one,” explained Young-Singh.
Study Abroad Ambassadors, who are Rider students who have recently returned from studying abroad, will also be available at the fair to share their experiences with interested students.
Stephanie Gomez, a junior International Business and Marketing dual major, researched online, attended Study Abroad fairs and spoke with the staff at the Center for International Education before deciding to study abroad in Florence, Italy, through the CAPA program in the fall of 2009.
“The Center helps students to try to look into a program that is fit for their major and the country they would like to go to,” explained Gomez, a Study Abroad Ambassador. “I’m hoping to share my abroad experience with students at the fair. Hopefully, they will be inspired.”
The Center for International Education is located in the Bart Luedeke Center, Suite 124. For more information about the Center, please call 609-896-7717.
