"Ticket to Rider" Is Rider's First Conference About The Beatles
by Amber Sowinski
For the first time at Rider, the Popular Music Studies program presents Ticket to Rider, a conference about The Beatles, on Saturday December 5 in the BLC Theater from 3 to 8 p.m. The program will feature several presenters talking about “all things Beatles.”
Professor Kenneth Womack will focus on the band’s songwriting practices. He is the author or editor of numerous books about The Beatles, including Long and Winding Roads: The Evolving Artistry of the Beatles, the Cambridge Companion to the Beatles, and The Beatles Encyclopedia: Everything Fab Four.
Rider student Victoria DeLuna will talk about what The Beatles have taught modern musicians. Professor Stephen Allen will discuss the strange relationship between John Lennon and his mother. Alan LeBouf, the featured musical guest of the program, will share his experiences traveling the world performing the Beatle’s hits and also explain the singing technique he uses to sound like the band.
The presenters will also be available to answer questions over dinner. Following dinner, LeBouf and the Princeton Brass Band will perform some of the Beatles most acclaimed songs. So break out those moptops and peace signs and come learn about the most influential rock ‘n’ roll band of all time.
Admission to the conference is free; dinner is $10.
