Rider University received national recognition by being named to the list of "Colleges of Distinction" for 2019-20. In addition to the national list, Rider was also one of 10 institutions of higher education recognized in New Jersey. It was also named to lists for its business, education and career development programs.
"This recognition affirms not only the quality but the value of a Rider education," says Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs DonnaJean A. Fredeen. "The University's approach to engaged learning consistently produces outcomes and experiences that enrich the lives of Rider students and benefit them well beyond graduation."
The Colleges of Distinction website and guidebook have honored schools throughout the U.S. since 2000 for their excellence in undergraduate-focused higher education. Colleges of Distinction’s selection process consists of detailed interviews and research about each institution’s freshman experience and retention efforts alongside its general education programs, career development, strategic plan, student satisfaction and more.
Schools are accepted on the basis that they adhere to four distinctions: engaged students, great teaching, vibrant community and successful outcomes.
“Students learn and thrive best when they embrace hands-on learning in a vibrant, welcoming community," says Tyson Schritter, Colleges of Distinction's chief operating officer. "That’s why it’s so encouraging to find Rider take such an innovative approach with its curriculum: its high-impact educational practices ensure that the undergraduate experience is worthwhile and unique.”
