Susan Stahley is one of 20 notable volunteers throughout New Jersey
Susan Stahley, Rider's substance abuse and sexual assault prevention coordinator, was selected as the 2018 Mercer County Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Volunteer of the Year. She was honored during a recent ceremony hosted by the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse.
Stahley was recognized along with volunteers of the year from 19 New Jersey counties for her outstanding alcohol and drug prevention efforts.
"I'm honored to be recognized for my outreach and educational efforts," Stahley says. "I try to include a fun component to the events whenever possible so students are not only having a good time, but learning about important issues at the same time."
Since joining Rider in 2014, Stahley has hosted a variety of fun educational events throughout the school year, including campus-wide OctSOBERfest and LaLaNoBooza celebrations, dedicated to educating students about safe alcohol use. In addition to her work on both of Rider’s campuses, she is also an active volunteer with the Lawrence Alcohol Drug Alliance and the Prevention Coalition of Mercer County, assisting with events such as National Night Out and multiple community days.
Stahley will be honored in January at the Mercer County Municipal Alliance volunteer recognition dinner. The Municipal Alliance program is a statewide network of community-based alcohol and drug prevention committees.
