Rider welcomes new associate dean

The College of Education and Human Services (CEHS) has appointed Dr. Jason Barr as its new associate dean. Barr will help support and expand the College's education programs, manage grant opportunities and maintain accreditation requirements in his new role.

"Jason has an impressive background in many areas of academics, including scholarship, teaching and administration," says Dr. Sharon Sherman, CEHS dean. "He also has quite a bit of experience with accreditation and program growth and development, especially at the graduate level. We are thrilled to have him join the College of Education and Human Services as our new associate dean."

As an administrator, Barr has served as the associate dean of the School of Education at Monmouth University and the dean of the College of Education and Rehabilitation at Salus University. He has also researched various aspects of learning and education at New York University, Fordham University and the IDEA Center, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving student learning in higher education.

Barr says he was drawn to Rider's CEHS because of its outstanding reputation, as well as its passionate and committed faculty and staff. He hopes to continue to enhance the College's dynamic teaching and learning environment.

"My goal is to be a resource to the faculty and staff to help develop strong and innovative programs," Barr says. "I also want to ensure the ongoing distinction of existing programs and continue the great work already started on the national accreditation processes in the College."

Rider's College of Education and Human Services offers more than 30 undergraduate, graduate and certificate programs, including Rider's first doctoral program — Doctor of Educational Leadership. The College aims to prepare students to be effective educators that address the needs of 21st century education. It is also a leader in preparing STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) teachers through numerous initiatives and collaborations. CEHS enjoys a strong reputation for providing a stellar education to its students as it was the first private New Jersey institution to hold the highest accreditation available from the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), now known as the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
