Dr. Sherry Fang Li and Dr. Betsy Haywood-Sullivan’s ‘Made in China: The Mengniu Phenomenon’ was recognized at a conference in New Orleans, La.
Dr. Sherry Fang Li and Dr. Betsy Haywood-Sullivan’s paper “Made in China: The Mengniu Phenomenon” was awarded the Lybrand Certificate of Merit by the Institute of Management Accountants as one of the best papers of the year.
The paper examines how a Chinese dairy conglomerate, the Mengniu Dairy Group, dealt with exponential growth by employing a competitive strategy based on quality and innovative marketing techniques. It details successful aspects of Mengniu’s differentiation approach as well as explaining missteps the company has made in recent years.
The paper was published in Management Accounting Quarterly, and the award was presented this past summer at the IMA annual reception and dinner at the IMA’s annual conference in New Orleans Riverside Hotel in New Orleans, La.
