WWFM’s Sounds Choral Broadcast Features Westminster Conducting Institute Faculty

Sounds Choral, the radio program that focuses on the choral art, devoted two July programs to the faculty participating in the 2011 Westminster Choir College Conducting Institute, which recently concluded its 10th anniversary season with an internationally renowned roster of master teachers. 

For the broadcasts Marjorie Herman, host of Sounds Choral, led a round-table conversation with faculty members James Jordan, Charles Bruffy, Bruce Chamberlain, Weston Noble, and Dennis Shrock. In this two-part program, listeners will hear about the unique structure of this Institute, why these conductors return year after year to the Westminster campus, and what they jointly hope to impart to the students at all levels of conducting proficiency.  The program included recorded examples from each conductor’s personal discography as well as an analysis of the repertoire that the teachers brought to the Institute.  This lively discussion will take the listener into the heart of what makes a successful summer conducting program as seen through the lens of some of the most accomplished conductor/teachers assembled anywhere.
