Six trips brought students around the region in 2016-17 to network and learn
This year, Rider’s Career Development and Success put a new twist on the concept of employer information sessions. Traditionally, employers have been invited to Rider’s Lawrenceville campus to present on topics of their choosing for a student organization. While this has proven successful in connecting students with employers, some highly sought after employers are not always able to come to campus. To remedy this problem, Career Development devised an alternative plan. During the 2016-17 academic year, it planned six trips for employer site visits. These included Grounds for Sculpture, the FBI field office in Newark, Burlington Forensic Laboratory, Camden Aquarium, Commvault and American Express headquarters in New York City. At each site, students met with alumni and other professionals and learned about the organization and available opportunities and how to take advantage of them as students. “Students get to hear from the employer, get a tour of the office, and really develop a sense of the environment and what it would be like to work there,” says Employer Relations and Outcomes Coordinator Iram Khan ’12, ’13. If you are an employer interested in partnering with Rider for a site visit, please contact Career Development and Success at 609-896-5058.
