Seven students from Rider’s Department of Accounting were recently awarded scholarships from the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants.
The New Jersey Society of CPA’s College Scholarship Program provides scholarships to junior and senior accounting students at New Jersey colleges to encourage the brightest students to further their professional education. The scholarships are awarded based on grades, recommendations, and an interview.
Year after year, Rider accounting students have been awarded these scholarships. However, this year, an unprecedented seven students were recognized.
“We have just as many, or even more, students receiving scholarships than much larger schools, like Rutgers, Montclair, and The College of New Jersey,” said Margaret O’Reilly-Allen, chair of the Accounting department. “It’s really a testament to how skilled our students are and how they’re using our program to succeed.”
Many of the students receiving awards have completed internships with companies such as Deloitte, Ernst &Young, and AIG.
The recipients were recognized during the 53rd Annual NJSCPA Scholarship Awards Ceremony on April 25 in Iselin, N.J.
