For the fourth consecutive year, Leadership Excellence magazine has recognized Rider University’s Center for the Development of Leadership Skills as one of the premier leadership development programs in the country.
In its “2012 Best in Leadership Development,” Leadership Excellence recognizes top leadership programs at higher-education institutions, and corporate, nonprofit, government and consulting organizations.
John Farrell, director of the Center for the Development of Leadership Skills (CDLS), said the ranking illustrates the continued success of CDLS and its Leadership Development Program (LDP), a four-year program designed for students of all majors.
“Though being recognized again with the premier educational institutions in the country is certainly an honor, we take great pride in the accomplishments of our students and program participants during their time at Rider and as they move on in their professional lives,” Farrell said. “We measure our success by their success as leaders and individuals making a difference.”
Laura Seplaki, associate director of CDLS and director of the Leadership Development Program, said the Center is honored to be recognized for its efforts and is fortunate to have so many students, staff and faculty invested in its programs.
“I believe the reason we have maintained our ranking with Leadership Excellence is because we have been able to clearly demonstrate the continual increase in the level of quality of our Center and the Leadership Development Program,” Seplaki said. “We have increased our graduation rate of those receiving the Certificate of Leadership, we reach more than 1,000 students through our programs and workshops each year, we encourage our members to practice leadership through service, and we continue to develop new initiatives and external relationships every year for the benefit of Rider students.”
The Center for the Development of Leadership Skills is housed in Rider University’s College of Business Administration, which is AACSB-accredited. Since 2004, CDLS has served as the leadership training and education resource for the entire University and its surrounding community. The Center has hosted a number of programs designed for women in transition, aspiring executive leaders, student performers in the arts and athletics, as well as lecture series, leadership trips and career workshops.
