In addition to the various study abroad opportunities offered by the Center for International Education, Rider’s colleges and departments offer a number of short-term international study tours throughout South America, Europe and Asia during the winter and summer breaks.
Most recently, the College of Business Administration's Center for International Business ran two separate study tours in January 2011. Dr. Susan Denbo, professor of Legal Studies & Business Ethics, Dr. Cynthia Newman, associate professor of Marketing, and Dr. Jonathan Husch, chair of the Department of Geological, Environmental, and Marine Sciences, led a study tour to Peru as part of the undergraduate Nature's Business course (dual listed as either CBA-316 or IND-316) and as a graduate course (PMBA 8303). During the interdisciplinary tour, from January 5 to 14, the students examined the relationships and interactions among various biological, economic, environmental, geological, cultural, and legal issues and concerns of the country. The students took city tours of Lima and Cuzco, and explored the ruins of Machu Piccu and the Amazon River.
Meanwhile, Dr. John Donovan and Dr. Kathy Dunne led the trip to Italy, which ran from January 11 to 20 and featured guided tours of Rome, Naples, Pompeii, Sorrento and Capri. Students in CBA 315: Study Tour-Italy had a chance to explore the Vatican, the Coliseum and the Roman Forum. Site visits also included U.S. Embassy and Commercial Services, Telecom Italia, Enel, Accenture, Bioversity, ISS International and Fiat.
Other study tours held within this past year, included trips to Panama, Spain, Vietnam and Bangkok. In addition, the Westminister Choir College Continuing Education office offered the Florence Voice Seminar from May 16 through June 18, 2010. The trip included Arts Administration students from the Lawrenceville campus, students from Westminster Choir College, and singers from around the country who had auditioned for the program.
