Experience the transformative journey of musical innovation as the Westminster Community Orchestra and six Westminster Choir College student pianists unite to explore the dynamic depths of Bach, Mozart, and more!
The dynamic interplay of orchestra and instrumental soloist in a concerto is one of the magical gifts of music. Johann Sebastian Bach and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart significantly innovated the concerto form in the eighteenth century, and the two works on the program, both set in the dramatic and volatile key of D minor, highlight the concerto format’s potential for rich textures, intense momentum, and dynamic interplay. This concert is a happy milestone: the post-covid renewal of a long- standing relationship between the student pianists of the Westminster Choir College and the Westminster Community Orchestra, the resident ensemble of the Westminster Conservatory of Music. The orchestra will conclude the evening with music from The Empire Strikes Back in a medley for full orchestra.
