Alcohol-Drug Education Office

This slideshow is not enabled

The Alcohol-Drug Education Office provides initial screening, education, support, and referral recommendations for full time students, part time students living on campus, and other students at the discretion of the Student Affairs Office or Rider University representatives. There is no cost for this service for the above mentioned eligible population.

Education and referral recommendations may help in resolving conflicts or confusion in reference to substance use or other addiction issues which interfere with the normal process of daily living. The office also assists in supporting and advocating for students that are in recovery.

In order for an effective screening process to occur, the candid participation of the participant will be necessary. The screening process can’t be accurate and the recommendations won’t be useful if misinformation or missing facts are included. A participant may stop the screening at any time. Completion of the screening may be requested and required by a representative of Rider University.

Confidentiality: The Alcohol-Drug Education Specialist will protect the confidentiality of all communications between the specialist and a student to the fullest extent permitted by federal and state law. Two examples of when communications may not be confidential include (i) instances where harm to self or others is indicated and, (ii) in accordance with the law, when the sharing of information among University personnel is necessary for the purpose of diagnosis, treatment or referral in cases of drug or alcohol abuse.
