Distribution of CARES Act grants begins May 12


Dear Students,

Rider has finalized its plan for the distribution of approximately $1.8 million received under the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The money was made available to assist students with expenses related to the disruption of campus operations caused by coronavirus, such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care and child care expenses. 

Undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at Rider University during the spring 2020 semester, including graduating seniors, are eligible for grants under guidelines provided by the U.S. Department of Higher Education and in accordance with federal law. Eligibility was determined based on your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) as reported on your Free Application for Federal Student Assistance (FAFSA) submission for the current academic year.  

CARES Act grants will be awarded in amounts between $300 and $900 to eligible students with an EFC below $30,000. We expect the grants to be distributed beginning Tuesday, May 12. No application is required. If you have already established your e-Refund profile in MyRider you will receive the funds via direct deposit, otherwise you will receive a paper check mailed to you at a later date. The University cannot apply these funds directly to charges on your student account as they must be issued as grants directly to students.  

We know many of our students have faced unexpected economic hardships as a result of COVID-19, and we hope these grants provide some relief to you and your families.
