The University has raised nearly $300,000 in the past five years for this American Cancer Society fundraiser

More than 800 Rider University students and community members are expected to take part in this year’s Relay for Life, a Rider tradition since 2009. The event begins at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 5, and concludes on Sunday, April 6, at 8 a.m. In the past five years, the University has raised nearly $300,000 for this American Cancer Society fundraiser.
During the event, teams of students will take turns walking and running around the track inside the Student Recreation Center to raise funds to support cancer research, education, advocacy, and patient and family services. As of Friday, April 4, 58 teams and 806 participants have raised more than $28,500. That tally is expected to rise.
Relay for Life is one of the largest student-run events held annually on the Lawrenceville campus, earning Rider the title of “Top Performing College Relay in New Jersey” twice in the past several years.
According to the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life symbolizes hope and a shared goal to end a disease that threatens the lives of so many people.
