Torrential rain failed to dampen the spirits of the Westminster community as 133 students were awarded degrees in the Princeton University Chapel on Saturday, May 13.
Joseph Flummerfelt, Westminster Choir College's emeritus Director of Choral Activities, delivered the Commencement Address and Steven Pilkington, Associate Professor of Sacred Music, delivered the Charge to the Graduating Classes.
Senior Victor Abednego conducted the Anthem of the Graduating Classes, For I Know the Plans I Have for You, composed by senior Caeleb Tee. Graduating organ students also participated in the ceremony: Thomas Heidenreich and Joel Trekell played Stephen Paulus’ Paean for Organ Duet, and Matthew Smith performed the fourth movement of Rachel Laurin’s Symphonie No. 1.
Distinguished by its unique choral focus, Westminster Choir College is the home of the world-renowned Westminster Choir, which has performed and recorded with virtually all of our era’s great orchestras and conductors. Its Commencement ceremony is distinguished by outstanding choral, organ and brass music.
