Guest Artist - Collaborative Pianist/Adminstrative Coordinator
Pianist, Deirdre Brenner, has performed throughout the USA, UK, and Europe. As a musician with a passion for chamber music and art song, she has appeared in venues including the Wiener Musikverein, Wiener Kozerthaus (Vienna), Stadthalle (Bayreuth), Teatro Real (Madrid), Beurs van Berlage (Amsterdam), the National Concert Hall (Dublin), St. Martin-in-the-Fields, and St. James-Picadilly (London), and the Hollywell Music Room (Oxford).
Originally from Massachusetts, USA, Deirdre earned a Bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College in both Engineering Sciences and Music, and Master's degrees from both the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Vienna Conservatory. Her teachers include Carolyn Hague, John O'Conor, Julius Drake, Colin Stone, Sally Pinkas and Loretta Slovak. She has participated in additional masterclasses with such artists as Elly Ameling, Irwin Gage, Robert Holl, Rudolf Jansen, Susan Manoff, Dominique Merlet, Wolfram Rieger, Roger Vignoles, and the Altenberg Trio, and has performed in festivals in the USA, UK, Italy, Poland, Sweden, as well as the South Pacific. In 2007, Deirdre was invited to give masterclasses to young singers and pianists in Caracas, Venezuela in collaboration with FESNOJIV. She has studied at the Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme in Aldeburgh, England, the Franz Schubert Institut in Baden, Austria, and was one of two pianists selected to play for the 2011 Vocal Academy at the Aix-en-Provence Festival in France.
In recent seasons, Deirdre has performed recitals (programs including Winterreise and Die Schöne Müllerin) in Austria, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and South Korea with baritone Wolfgang Holzmair. She has accompanied vocal masterclasses given by Birgid Steinberger, Linda Watson, Rudolf Jansen and Elly Ameling, and was an official accompanist for the 2010 's-Hertogenbosch International Vocal Competition in the Netherlands. Deirdre currently lives in Vienna.
