Many events will welcome the Class of 2021 to Rider University

Here is a sample of the many events students will participate in during Fall Opening. Commuter students will be emailed a complete schedule and resident students will be given a complete schedule when they check into their Residence Hall on Sunday, Sept. 3.

Sunday, Sept. 3

New Student Move In
8 a.m.-1 p.m.
Look out for an email from Residence Life informing you of your building’s designated move in time! You’ll meet the Bronc Buddies who will make moving in a breeze!

Freshman Move-In Day

New Student & Family Picnic 
11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Campus Mall
All new students and their family are invited to join Rider administrators for lunch on the Campus Mall! 107.7 The Bronc will be providing the entertainment.

New Student Welcome Ceremony
1:30-2:30 p.m.
Alumni Gym
President Dell’Omo, Associate Dean of Freshmen Ira Mayo, and other Rider administrators formally welcome new students and families to the Rider community.

New Student Dinner with President Dell'Omo
5 p.m.
Campus Mall
Meet Rider University’s President Dell'Omo, members of his administration and your Student Government representatives over a delicious dinner on the Campus Mall. 

Residence Hall Roundup! 
6:30 p.m.
Various Locations
You will meet your Resident Adviser and Residence Hall Staff and learn about resources and policies that pertain to living on campus. You will participate in team builders and have fun while meeting your neighbors!

9 p.m.
SRC Courts
PLAYFAIR is totally unlike anything else you have ever experienced. It's entertainment! It's fun! It's the perfect way to make new campus friendships!

Monday, Sept. 4

How 'Bout This Party? 
Yvonne Theater 
This is an interactive theater performance by Theater Delta focused on issues surrounding sexual assault and alcohol use. It will cover a number of topics – including consent, the role of alcohol, bystander intervention, how to support a survivor, and victim blaming.

BroncFest: Fall Opening! and RecFest 
3:30-6 p.m.
SRC Courts, Campus Mall, Daly Fields 
Relax and enjoy this carnival-like experience with your new friends. Visit booths and enjoy exhibition games sponsored by Rider’s Club and Intramural sports teams. Meet representatives from Rider’s over 100 clubs and organizations! The fun includes food trucks, inflatables, games and music! Participate in events to be qualified for raffle prizes!

Comedian Chris Redd 
9 p.m.
Yvonne Theater
Chris Redd is an actor, writer and nationally touring standup comedian headlining some of the biggest festivals, colleges and clubs across the country. On film, Redd can currently be seen opposite Andy Samberg in Pop Star: Never Stop Never Stopping produced by Judd Apatow. Next up, he will be seen in roles opposite Amy Poehler and Will Ferrell in The House and A Futile and Stupid Gesture opposite Will Forte. Redd is also a series regular on the upcoming Netflix series Disjointed.

New Student Convocation & Luncheon

Meet with your academic college then participate in the New Student Convocation ceremony, which commemorates students’ start to their academic career. Following Convocation, join faculty and staff for a luncheon in your honor at Daly Dining Hall.

Grit ’N Wit
3 p.m.
Start/Finish on Poyda Lawn
Grit ’N Wit is the area's first obstacle course where brain meets brawn. Other obstacle course series test you physically, but at Grit ‘N Wit that’s only half the challenge. Take on 20+ obstacles over a one- to two-mile course designed to challenge you both physically and mentally. Prove that you really are the total package, grit and wit.

21st Annual New Student Talent Show
8 p.m.
Yvonne Theater
Can you sing? Dance? Perform magic or stand-up comedy? Whatever your talent, share it with members of the Class of 2021! Fantastic prizes are awarded to the winners!
