Long Sword and Quarter Staff

Go long with the Rider University's Summer Stage Combat Intensive. This 50-hour intensive will cover the Society of American Fight Directors' two long weapons: quarterstaff and long sword. Think the Mountain vs. the Viper from Game of Thrones!! The week will end with a public performance and Skills Proficiency Test adjudicated by a Fight Master with the Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD) and invited guests. No previous stage combat experience is necessary but participants must commit to all training sessions.

Baritone Sean McCarther serves as Assistant Professor of Voice at Westminster Choir College where he teaches studio voice and undergraduate voice science. In May of 2012 he received his doctorate in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy with minors in music theory and movement/postural analysis at Indiana University. He studied voice with Dr. Robert Harrison and pedagogy with the late Paul Kiesgen. Dr. McCarther earned his Master of Music degree with an emphasis in speech pathology at Indiana University and his Bachelor of Music degree at Baylor University, where he studied with Jack Coldiron.
