Welcome Packet and Forms
Westminster Chamber Music Camp for Piano, Winds, and Strings
Dear Students and Families,
Welcome to Westminster Chamber Music Camp 2019! We are planning an exciting week of music making. Our teachers are looking forward to meeting you and coaching wonderful ensembles.
We are asking all new students to Westminster Chamber Music Camp to come in for a placement audition with us. The office will contact you at the end of May. At the audition you will be asked to play a brief solo that you have already studied, and which demonstrates your playing ability. You will also be asked to sight read a short music excerpt that you have never seen before.
During camp each student will play in at least one ensemble. Some pieces will be assigned at camp. One or two selections will be given out to pianists via email ahead of time which they should look through before camp starts. All instrumentalists will be given a wider selection of parts but they can prepare only those which don’t exceed their level of proficiency.
The following is important information you will need for camp.
Required Medical Information Form
If you have not already done so, please complete the Medical Information Form and upload it to your RegOnline account or email it to the Conservatory at [email protected] before the first day of camp. We will keep these forms on hand throughout the duration of the camp as the information may be important in case of an emergency.
Camp Schedule and Location
As you will see by the schedule below, we are starting on Thursday, June 27, 2019. Camp days will include Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday. Although the camp will not meet on Sunday, June 30, students are still expected to practice and be prepared to rehearse ensembles on Monday, July 1.
The camp hours are 9:30AM to 3:00PM. You may start arriving by 9:20AM to Princeton Hall (Conservatory building) on the Westminster Choir College campus. Please sign in each day in the main office. We will start out in Recital Hall located in the basement level of Princeton Hall each morning where the daily schedule will be announced. Lunch will be in the campus cafeteria located in the Student Center, except Saturday when a pizza party will take place. Lunch and pizza are included in your camp tuition. Students can bring a snack every day to enjoy during the break.
The final concert will be on Tuesday, July 2nd in one of the prestigious halls on the Westminster campus (time TBA). This “Ensemble Spectacular” will top off a week of hard work and lots of fun with great performances. Parents, families and friends are all invited.
What to Bring
Your instrument (unless you are a pianist)
Bring your music and a pencil
A snack for break time
Extra layer of clothes (sweater or sweatshirt) in case the air conditioning is too cold
The expectation will be that students have some practice time at home after camp. Each day, the campers will receive new practice ideas from their teachers and coaches. We hope that the students will make time to prepare themselves for the following day by reviewing what they learned each day.
If you have any questions, please email us at [email protected] or [email protected] or call the Conservatory main number 609-921-7104 and the office staff will take a message and we will call you back.
We are looking forward to lots of fun music making with you at camp! See you on June 27th
