Masters of Organizational Leadership Program Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to finish the Masters of Arts in Organizational Leadership degree?
Completing a graduate degree in the program takes a minimum of 2 ½ years.  Depending on how you plan your course scheduling and your individual goal plan, completion could take either a longer or a shorter amount of time. Part-time students take less than three courses a semester so completion of a graduate degree takes longer than full time students who take three courses a semester. Students enrolled in the accelerated online program can complete their degree in as quickly as five semesters.  

How do I know I have been accepted into the program?
Once accepted, you will receive a letter from the Department of Graduate Education, Leadership, and Counseling.  You will also receive a letter from Graduate Admissions indicating you student ID (‘BroncID’) and email address.

Is financial aid available?
The Financial Aid and Scholarships Office at Rider University has information on loans in which you can apply. Various positions exist on campus and are listed through the Career Development and Success Center via Handshake. Occasionally, there are positions available in our department for students in our program. How many credits/courses are considered full-time?
Fulltime for graduate students is 3 courses a semester (9 credit hours.)

What are the degree requirements for graduation?
To complete the degree requirements for the Organizational Leadership program, all students need to complete 30 credit hours. In the last semester of study, students will complete a capstone experience (LEAD 598). This culminating experience will result in a leadership project or master’s thesis.

When do I choose my concentration?
As a prospective graduate student, you will choose your concentrations when applying to the program.

How do I plan my studies?
Once you are are accepted into the Organizational Leadership program, you will have access to Rider University’s learning management system, CANVAS. Once you log into the site, you may access documents and tools that contain all the steps you need to take in planning your studies. You are required to meet with your advisor to discuss your plan prior to registering for your first class.

What is considered ‘good academic standing’ for the program?
All students in the program must earn a GPA of at least 3.0 by the end of their first 12 credits.  Some students are accepted with the additional proviso of attaining a 3.0 in a shorter timeframe.
