Cost of Attendance

Tuition for the Doctor of Educational Leadership program in 2018–19 is $870 per credit, plus approximately $100 per semester in University fees.


Application Information

Qualifications

To be a candidate for this program, you must have at least three years of professional experience and hold a master’s degree in education, teaching, arts, science or business from an accredited college or university (minimum 3.0 GPA).

Application Materials

Applications for the Summer 2019 cohort group must be received in full by February 15, 2019.

All Ed.D. applicants must submit the following in support of their candidacy.

  • Your application must include official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate schools attended.
  • Your $50 application fee should be made payable to Rider University
  • Graduate test scores are not required for consideration

Admission Statement

Candidates should respond with clarity and organization to the following two questions:

  1. From among the most significant issues in education/ organizations today, what problem areas of practice are you interested in investigating during your doctoral study?
    Your response should include the problem of practice, why you want to investigate it, and a strong rationale for the significance of the problem.
    (1,000-1,200 words)
  2. How have your previous research, work, and life experiences prepared you for the Rider University doctoral program in Educational Leadership?
    (300-400 words)

Professional Résumé

Your résumé should summarize your work and education history, including an outline of your educational/academic skills with examples, such as your research and teaching background, affiliations, publications, certifications, presentations and other professional experiences.

Letters of Recommendation

Each recommendation should be presented as a letter, attached to the completed general recommendation form included in your application.

  • One (1) faculty recommendation
    A faculty member familiar with your work during graduate study and who can speak to your readiness for doctoral study should provide this recommendation.
  • Two (2) professional recommendations
    Recommendations should be from individuals with academic or professional knowledge of your capabilities, such as a supervisor, mentor or colleague. One letter should be from your current employer or supervisor.

Personal Interview

You also will be required to complete a personal interview with the director of the program as part of your application process.
