Pre-College Summer Programs
Motivated high school students achieve their academic and artistic goals by attending a Rider University Pre-College Program. Rider University offers a variety of program options for enrichment or for credit. Students who successfully complete our summer pre-college programs are eligible for a renewable scholarship.
High School students are introduced to a comprehensive, behind-the-scenes experience in the sports broadcasting and journalism arena. Students are immersed into learning all facets of sports media for their professional goals, from interviewing skills, traits of sports journalism to fast-action motion photography and much more!
Rising high school juniors and seniors are introduced to the concept of entrepreneurship through a university level Entrepreneurship Studies (ES) program. Young entrepreneurs explore the start-up process, understand the genesis of business concepts, devise marketing strategies, identify sources of customers and anticipate potential challenges and solutions.
Learn how you can best capture your talent on film. Discover the expectations of on camera acting while acquiring the essential background knowledge from behind the lens. Creat and produce a showreel of your work. Students receive professional training by working with and learning from Rider's renowned, distinguished faculty and award-winning guest artists.
Thrive as a triple threat performer. Refine your skills in singing, acting and dancing. Students receive professional training by working with and learning from Rider's renowned, distinguished faculty and award-winning guest artists.
Grab the mic and expand your musical repertoire. Explore popular vocal styles like jazz, pop, and rock as a soloist and in a group setting. and master your skills through private vocal instruction, jazz theory, improvisation classes, and ensemble rehearsals.
Each summer, talented young artists from across the nation come to Rider University's Westminster Choir College for an extraordinary learning experience. Working with Westminster’s renowned artist faculty, they strengthen their passion for music, develop their technique and expand their creativity in an atmosphere of artistic and intellectual discovery. Academically motivated high school students are welcome to jump-start their college career. Rider's Gifted and Talented Program is designed to give high school students the opportunity to take college courses and earn college credits while still in high school. While attending classes at Rider this summer, students will immerse themselves in the college experience, expand their academic interests, and discover potential future majors, while earning credits toward their degree. You may choose 3-Week or 6-Week courses during the Summer Session II. We offer a wide array of classes – at half the regular tuition cost. Rider University's pre-college enrichment programs are structured to introduce students to a full college campus experience. From rigorous coursework, access to state-of-the-art equipment and facilities to on-campus housing and activities, students will explore college life at Rider University. Enrichment programs are non-credit bearing, however regular attendance and completed assignments are expected. Students are evaluated by the same academic standards and procedures as Rider University undergraduates.
Students opting to take advantage of the for credit option will be required to submit additional coursework. Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive 3 college credits from Rider University. Students planning to transfer these credits to another accredited institution should be aware that acceptance of these credits is at the discretion of the institution. We recommend that you contact the institution to confirm their transfer credit policy.
Pre-College FOR CREDIT Application
Freshman applicants who completed any Rider-sponsored pre-college programs prior to applying for admission will automatically qualify for a $2000 Pre-College Completion Award, renewable for up to four years of full-time, continuous undergraduate enrollment, provide you maintain a minimum cumulative Rider grade-point average of 2.5 or better.
