After returning from their 2014 tour of Oklahoma and Texas, the Westminster Choir and Joe Miller will present a preview of their 2014 Spoleto USA Festival program featuring settings of Te Deum, the hymn of praise, by George Frideric Handel and Arvo Pärt. Handel’s Dettingen Te Deum, written in 1743 to celebrate King George II’s triumphant return from defeating France in battle, features all the radiance and intricacy of Baroque choral music. Estonian composer Arvo Pärt described his haunting setting, written in 1985, as one "that could be infinite in time—out of the flow of infinity."
