What is the housing application process for me?

Follow the informational pages pertinent to what type of student you are. As you explore the application process, you may still have questions. Contact the Residence Life Office for help.

What type of student you are:


First-Year or Transfer College Students

You are a first-year college student who will be attending a college or university for the first time OR you are a transfer student having attended a college or university after having taken at least one semester of classes at another institution and you're looking for housing.

To apply for housing as a first-time or transfer student you must follow the steps and requirements below.

Steps to Apply for Housing

  1. Logon to MyRider
  2. Under MyRider/Student Information Tab/Ipay, Submit the $200 housing deposit by May 1. We do not guarantee housing for any students that submit deposits after May 1st.
  3. Complete all phases of your housing process online at MyRider/Student Information Tab/Apply for Housing

Housing Requirements

To qualify for housing, you must:

  1. Have paid all your deposits by the deadline
  2. Be a full time student
  3. Be registered for classes

Returning Students

You are a current resident or commuter and are looking to apply for housing for next year.

To apply for housing as a returning student, you must follow the steps and requirements below.

Steps to Apply for Housing

All returning undergraduate students, including commuters, who pay their housing deposit by March 1 and submit their housing agreement by April 2nd will be able to reside on campus.

  1. The $200 non-refundable housing deposit must be RECEIVED by the Cashier’s Office by March 1st.
  2. Course select for Fall 2014 by April 2nd.  Students who have not course selected will not be able to participate in room selection.
  3. Complete appropriate steps through online housing portal.
  4. Participate in Greek Room Selection on March 10, Premium Room Selection on March 12, or Standard Room Selection March 31 – April 2 via the online housing portal.

Housing Requirements

To qualify for housing, you must:

  1. Have paid your $200 housing deposit by the deadline.
  2. Completed the appropriate steps through the online housing portal.
  3. All applicants applying for premium housing must be in good judicial and financial standing.
  4. Have course selected by April 2.

Readmitted Students

You are a readmitted student if you are returning to Rider after having taken a leave of absence.

To apply for housing as a readmitted student you must follow the steps and requirements below.

Steps to Apply for Housing

All returning undergraduate students, including commuters, who pay their $200 housing deposit, will be able to reside on campus, if space is still available.

  1. Students readmitted to the University will be sent a letter containing the online housing portal information.
  2. Pay the $200 housing by the deadline stated in the letter.
  3. Students will be notified once they are able to go on and select a space or an assignment has been made.

Housing Requirements

To qualify for housing, you must:

  1. Have paid all your deposits by the deadline.
  2. Be a full time student.
  3. Be registered for classes.

Winter Break Students

2014 Winter Break Housing information will be available in Fall of 2014.


Summer Break Students

Only students working for or taking classes at the institution during summer session I or II are eligible for summer housing.

Session Dates 2014

  • Summer 1: May 19 – July 2
  • Summer 2: July 7 – August 19

Most accommodations are double rooms.  If space is available, single room requests will be honored at an increased rate.  WE CANNOT GUARANTEE A SINGLE ROOM

ALL RESIDENT STUDENTS MUST SELECT A MEAL PLAN FOR EACH SESSION.  The full meal plan includes 19 meals per week PER SESSION (3 meals Monday-Friday and brunch and dinner on the weekends).  The Any 20, 30 or 40 meal plans includes any 20, 30 or 40 meals PER SESSION.  Any remaining meals not used prior to the end of summer session 2 will be forfeited.

RATES LISTED BELOW ARE FOR ONE SESSION AND MEALS ARE REQUIRED

RATES FOR SUMMER 2014 TO BE RELEASED IN MARCH 2014

  • One Course Room Rate:
    Double Room $1,515 -- Single Room $2,160
  • Two Course Discount Rate:
    (Must be two courses per summer session at 3 credits each or a science course with a lab class. Discount rate applies to Rider students only.)
    Double Room $295 -- Single Room $765
  • Meal Plan:
    (Purchase of a meal plan is required for summer housing.)
    Full Meal Plan $1,130 -- Any 20 Meals $205 -- Any 30 Meals $295 -- Any 40 Meals $370
