Fraternities and sororities, rich with traditions, pride, and sense of community make tremendous contributions to the college communities in which they are a part.
The Office of Greek Life at Rider University believes in the benefits of fraternities and sororities and promotes a positive environment for these organizations to assist in the development of men’s and women’s intellect, values, leadership, relationships, and citizenship.
The Office of Greek Life provides programs and services that enhance the academic experience, promote responsibility, teach transferable skills, and provide direction for each Greek organization in order to assist those groups to achieve high standards in all that they do.
Focus Areas and Goals (PDF)
The Office of Greek Life has worked with chapter and council presidents, house managers and various other community members to develop goals to guide us throughout the years in developing action plans for improving our Greek Community. We have goals related to seven focus areas of Greek Life.
There are seven full time staff members who work in some capacity to support the fraternities and sororities at Rider.
The Office of Greek Life works with our organizations to provide social, service, leadership, and educational programs to aid in the personal development of students who join fraternities and sororities.
Beginning in 2008, fraternities and sororities are evaluated annually with regard to a comprehensive set of behavioral and performance expectations that resonate with Rider University’s values, its Strategic Plan and recommendations from the Presidential Task Force on Alcohol, Personal Responsibility, and Student Life. Expectations (pdf) fall into six major categories: academic achievement, leadership development, programming, chapter operations, risk management, and housing. Check out our organizations to get information about each chapters status and standards rating.
Rider is proud to be able to offer many types of theme housing on campus for our students. Many of the fraternities and sororities have the privilege of being housed on Fraternity and Sorority Row at the west end of campus. We do not recognize any chapters that maintain an official off campus residential house.
As a parent, you may have a number of questions about your son or daughter’s desire to join a fraternity or sorority.
