How to Get Connected

Residential Networking Support

The Office of Support Services assists resident students in connecting their personal computers to the campus networks. If you suspect that you are experiencing problems with the network jack in your room, call the Help Desk at x3000 or through E-Support. You will be asked to try a couple of easy tests to be sure it is not a problem with your software settings.

If we can't resolve the problem over the phone, you will be asked to schedule a service call. You must be in your room during the call and assist as required. A trained RiderNet Manager will stop by to test the jack and work with you to verify your software settings. If we determine that the jack is broken, the network team will be notified and repaired as soon as possible.

RiderNet Managers do not support problems with the students personal computer. This includes issues related to spyware, virus, and worm infestations. However, they may recommend that you scan your computer for an infestation using as part of the troubleshooting process.

Rider University does not provide cable, install ethernet equipment nor guarantee your computer will be able to connect to RiderNet. Technicians cannot resolve problems caused by hardware or software unrelated to the RiderNet network data service.
