Rider University Canvas Learning Management System Training Sessions
Training session for Canvas will begin on March 18, 2013 and will continue throughout the year. If you are interested in training, this site will provide you with information and the opportunity to register for training sessions. The schedule of training will be updated regularly.
Faculty and staff training session will focus on the faculty experience of building a course in the Canvas LMS as well as the experience of moving content from Blackboard to Canvas. Student training will focus on the student experience of using Canvas, but faculty are welcome to attend as well so they will know what Canvas is like from the student’s perspective. All sessions will be recorded and made available for viewing online.
Session Overviews
From Syllabus to Site | Register for this session
This 90-minutes session will familiarize faculty and staff with the process of building a Canvas course from scratch. The session will proceed through a basic course building template with ample opportunities for you to try Canvas out. Participants are encouraged to bring electronic copies of course materials (syllabus, Word documents, Excel files, PDFs, lists of URLs).
Moving from Blackboard to Canvas | Register for this session
This one-hour session will detail the process of moving a course or organization from Blackboard to Canvas, what functions will work and what functions will not. Participants are encouraged to select a course to move since we will actually be taking participants through that process during the session.
Getting around Canvas | Register for this session
This 60-minute training session will place each participant into a course where the student functions in Canvas will be demonstrated and experienced. Participants are encouraged to bring a few homework documents to work with.
