What Fridays has President Dell’Omo authorized for half days?
For 2016, the half-day Fridays will be May 20th, May 27th, June 3rd, June 10th, June 17th, June 24th, July 1st, July 8th, July 15th, July 22nd, July 29th, August 5th and August 12th. Employees may leave at 12:00 noon on these days.
How should my office be staffed?
All University offices will be open and staffed Monday through Thursday for full days and on Friday until noon. Please ensure that offices are open with adequate staff on the mornings of the designated Fridays so that the University can continue to provide quality service and support. Some departments, because of operational needs, may not be able to take advantage of the half-day Fridays. In these cases, alternative flextime, with supervisory approval, can be arranged.

Several departments in the University have activities or service requirements on Friday afternoons in the summer and therefore, will need to continue to have their offices fully operational and staffed during these times. However, with your supervisor's approval, and as long as operational needs are met, you can take off three and one-half hours on another day determined by your supervisor or, if your supervisor allows, you could combine the hours and take off a full day at another time.
For operational reasons, my department supervisor says our office must remain open on Friday afternoons. Can we close our office on Thursday afternoons instead?

I've arranged for a full week of vacation during one of the weeks where the University has authorized a Friday afternoon closing. How do I record this time on my timesheet?
The 3.5 hours in the morning of the Friday is counted as vacation and the 4.0 hours in the afternoon is counted as closing.
What if I am on short-term disability or sick on one of the Fridays?
The entire day is counted as a sick day.
I don't want to take the time off. Can I be paid for it instead?
No, this program is an offer for employees to take advantage of the summer months. If you choose not to use the time, your pay cannot be adjusted.
