Dr. Ronald Cook, professor of entrepreneurial studies
and director of the Small Business Institute and the Rider Center
for Entrepreneurial Studies at Rider University, received the
prestigious Fellow Award from the Small Business Institute (SBI)
Association at its recent national conference.
The award, equivalent to lifetime achievement recognition, has
been conferred on only 51 individuals in the 30-year history of
the organization, and just 12 in the last 10 years. He was the
only awardee this year.
To earn this honor, an individual must be nominated and selected
by current SBI Fellows. Nominees must possess significant national
or international reputation in the small business field and bring
significant public relations to the SBI program. In addition,
nominees must be active in the organization for at least five
years, be an SBI director for at least three years, publish scholarly
articles and books on small business or entrepreneurship, deliver
outstanding presentations at professional meetings, and chair
national or regional committees.
In addition, the nominees cannot be a current national officer.
However, after he received the award, Dr. Cook was elected to
the leadership path of the SBI association. He is currently serving
as program chair-elect. In the five-year progression, he will
become program chair, president-elect, president, and then immediate
past president.
