• Eleven students from Rider University’s Educational
Opportunity Program (EOP) and six non-EOP Rider students attended
The Carroll F.S. Hardy National Black Student Leadership Conference
in Washington, D.C. January 4-7. The students were selected
based upon their academic achievement, leadership ability and
campus involvement. The EOP students were: Travarus Fauntleroy,
a junior psychology major; Kendell Williams, a sophomore psychology
major; Amir Duncan, a freshman communication major; Stanley
Owens, a freshman psychology major; Shari Kerr, a freshman sociology
major; Amy Lapaix, a freshman general liberal studies major;
Karen Lakomy, a junior elementary education/communication major;
Chastity Manning, a freshman journalism major; Aleathia Shannon,
a sophomore elementary education/psychology major; Brooke McDermott,
a freshman secondary education/English major; and Andre Fearon,
a junior management/communication major. The non-EOP students
were: Rudima Jackson, a freshman general liberal studies major;
Courtney Robison Medley, a junior psychology /fine arts major;
Uchenna Duru, a junior human resource management major; Alonzo
Williams, a senior marketing major; Daphkar Lahens, a senior
psychology/sociology major; and Davida Brown, a senior fine
arts major. EOP graduate assistant Reggie Walker, a master’s
degree candidate in organizational leadership, also attended.

• Students in Dr. Roberta Fiske-Rusciano’s Student
Global Village (Global and Multinational Studies 285) course
produced a document last fall entitled, “Guidelines to
a Civil Society.” The document is a result of a semester’s
worth of work, videoconferencing with students of the American
University in Cairo. The document will be disseminated across
campus, to non-governmental institutions, United States politicians
and world leaders, including Desmond Tutu and Kofi Annan. Participants
in the Student Global Village, Fall 2006 were: Princess Jenkins,
a senior liberal studies major; Ashley Potts, a senior finance
major; Armin Wanczyk, a junior global and multinational studies
major; Allyson Angelo, a senior political science major; Emily
Howell, a sophomore environmental science major; Shelley Richards,
a senior political science/global and multinational studies/Spanish
major; Patrick Conroy, a sophomore global and multinational
studies major; Stacy Winship, a senior elementary education/psychology
major; Lada Pastushak, a senior history major/political science/global
and multinational studies major; Valerie Pettersen, a sophomore
secondary education/history major; Marisa Sardella, a sophomore
global and multinational studies major; Olivia Tattory, a junior
journalism major; Daria Georgiyeva, a senior global and multinational
studies/Spanish major; Jonathan Stratton, a senior business
administration major; John Fels, a senior finance major; Jonathan
Mizrachi, a senior global and multinational studies major, and
Steve Forsyth, a senior global and multinational studies major.
