ACHIEVERS
• Father Bruno Ugliano, Rider Catholic Chaplain, was
honored at the second annual Mill Hill Foundation annual dinner
dance March 17. He was recognized for the energy and concern
he has shown over the past 11 years to the Trenton-based foundation
and its staff.
Student Support Services (SSS)
• Jennifer Halat, a junior marketing major, received
a scholarship from the Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity. She
has also served as vice president of professional activities
for Delta Sigma Pi.
• Kenneth Jacobs, freshman journalism major, received
a scholastic achievement award from the law and justice department.
He also won a resident seat on the Student Government Association
Finance Board.
• Katie Urffer, a senior business education major, won
a scholarship from the Association for Equality, Excellence,
and Education, Inc. (AEEE). She has also served as an RA.
• Lynn Brown, a senior journalism major, received a Certificate
of Merit for Excellent Academic Achievement in Italian from
the foreign languages and literatures department, as well as
an academic excellence award from the communication department.
She also received an award for outstanding service from the
communication department and an Honor Chord from Lambda Pi Eta,
a communication honor society. Brown served as vice president
of Lambda Pi Eta, a communication honor society, and organized
the Ceremony of Merit held in March. She also served as the
editor for the Fall 2006 edition of the AEEE newsletter and
as co-Editor of the SSS newsletter.
• Anthony Parillo, a sophomore global business and accounting
major, was elected junior class president for the 2007/08 academic
year.
• Andrea Susnick, a junior secondary education/English
major, was selected as a new member of the Orientation Staff.
• Jamie Papapetros, a junior communication major, has
been named vice president of Rider Serves, a community service
program for incoming freshmen, and a member of Lambda Pi Eta,
Rider’s communication honor society. He is also is the
lead tutor of social science and humanities for the Student
Success Center.
• Uchenna Duru, a junior human resource management major,
has been named community service chair for the Black Student
Union. She has served as an RA, a member of Alpha Lambda Delta,
a national honor society for freshmen; and will be inducted
into Beta Gamma Sigma, the business honor society.
• Jetty Hartsky, a sophomore English major; Stephanie
DiBrienza, a sophomore journalism major; and Stella Hickman,
a senior human resource management major, have served as RAs.
Hickman was also inducted into Sigma Iota Epsilon, the national
honor marketing and management society. Hartsky has served as
co-editor and layout editor of the SSS newsletter.
• Jessica Schiowitz, a sophomore history major, was inducted
into Phi Alpha Theta, the history honor society, and Alpha Lambda
Delta. She also presented two history papers at the Gender Studies
Colloquium.
• Valerie Cedeno, a junior journalism major; Alexandra
Samuel, a junior journalism major; and Valis Vicenty, a sophomore
journalism major, are members of Lambda Pi Eta, a communication
honor society. Cedeno has also been inducted into Sigma Delta
Pi, the Spanish honor society, and Samuel has been accepted
into Omicron Delta Kappa, the leadership honor society.
• Tiffany Moody, a December 2006 graduate (a communication
major), has been accepted into Sigma Tau Delta, the English
honor society.
