Kapschutschenko Exhibit |
An exhibit of Ukrainian sculptor Petro Kapschutschenko’s
work in bronze and terracotta will take place Tuesday, March 27
from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in the Bart Luedeke Center Fireside Lounge.
The exhibit is entitled “Petro Kapschutschenko (1915-2006):
Life’s Journey Through Sculpture.”
The University’s Slavic Club is presenting this one-day
exhibit featuring bronze and terracotta sculptures by Kapschutschenko.
This will be the first show in the United States since the sculptor’s
passing in November 2006, and it will feature the private collections
of his daughter, Ludmila Kapschutschenko-Schmitt, Rider professor
of Spanish, Dr. Zenia Chernyk, and the Pastushak family. Professor
Wolodymyr Karpinich will present a brief biographical sketch of
Kapshutschenko’s life and work.
Kapschutschenko was born in Ukraine but emigrated to Argentina
after World War II. This exhibit will allow the viewer to take
a step back in time to the Ukrainian steppes where the Kozak brotherhood
rode through the plains, and right into the rich and colorful
culture of Argentina, Kapschutschenko’s adopted homeland.
Admission is free, and there will be a Ukrainian buffet. For
information, contact Lada Pastushak at 215-364-1799 or lpastushak@yahoo.com.
