In Memoriam

This month two individuals noted for their dedicated service to Rider University passed away.

Walter L. Klotz, who served on Rider's business education faculty for 38 years and who was active in the Rider Retirees' Association, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2007. He graduated from Rider in 1940. He joined the teaching staff at Rider that year. After serving as a captain in the U.S. Army's 3276th Quartermaster Service Corps from 1942-46, he returned to the faculty. He became chairman of the secretarial science division and then of business education. He retired in 1978 with professor emeritus status.

Donald L. Bixby, who served on the Rider Board of Trustees from 1985 to 1993 and as its chair from 1989 to 1992, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2007. Among his many honors was an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Rider University in recognition of his service to the University. He worked for Transamerica De Laval in Trenton for 39 years, the last 11 years as its president and CEO.
