“Audrey Flack: Abstract Expressionist 1950s” Opened March 1 at Art Gallery

The Rider University Art Gallery is presenting an exhibit by Audrey Flack entitled “Audrey Flack: Abstract Expressionist 1950s,” which opened on March 1 and will continue through Thursday, April 5. There will also be a gallery performance – Audrey Flack and the Flacktones Art Band – on Thursday, March 22 at 7 p.m. The Art Gallery is located in the Bart Luedeke Center on the Lawrenceville campus and admission is free. Westminster Opera Theater Presents “Oreste” March 6-9

The Westminster Opera Theater will present “Oreste” by George Frideric Handel on Tuesday through Friday, March 6-9 at 8 p.m. in The Playhouse on the Westminster campus. This will be only the second U.S. performance of the three-act opera sung in Italian with English subtitles. The music director is Daniel Beckwith, and the stage director is Mark Verzatt. Westminster Schola Cantorum Spring Concert “Contemporary Master Works” on March 9

Westminster Schola Cantorum, conducted by Andrew Megill, will present its spring concert on Friday, March 9 at 8 p.m. in Bristol Chapel on the Westminster campus. The repertoire includes Bernstein’s “Chichester Psalms,” O’Regan’s “Dorchester Canticles” and Mendelssohn’s “Psalm 42, Op. 42.” Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students/seniors and are available by calling the Westminster box office at 609-921-2663. Kaleidoscope Chamber Series “Schubertiad Revisited” on March 11

Westminster Conservatory faculty will present “Schubertiad Revisited” as part of the Kaleidoscope Chamber Series on Sunday, March 11 at 3 p.m. in Bristol Chapel on the Westminster campus. “Die Schöne Müllerin” and related works by Schubert and Welcher will be performed. The performers will be Timothy Urban, baritone; Katherine McClure, flute; Melissa Bohl, oboe; Ivy Haga, bassoon; Dezheng Ping, violin; Marjorie Selden, viola; Carol Redfield Vizzini, cello; Paul C. Hofreiter, double bass; and Esma Pasic-Filipovic and Paul W. Hofreiter, piano. Westminster Choir Spring Tour March 11-17

Westminster Conservatory at Nassau “Flute at the Opera” March 15

Westminster Conservatory at Nassau will present a program entitled “Flute at the Opera” on Thursday, March 15 at 12:15 p.m. Seth Rosenthal, flute, and Suzanne Lehrer, piano, both members of the faculty of Westminster Conservatory, will perform music based on famous operas including “Don Giovanni” and “Un Ballo in Maschera.” This free recital will take place in the Niles Chapel of Nassau Presbyterian Church, 61 Nassau Street in Princeton.

“Musick & Dance from the Age of George Washington” on March 18

A Westminster Faculty Recital entitled “Musick and Dance from the Age of George Washington” will be presented by the Practitioners of Musick and The Colonial Assembly of the Germantown Country Dancers on Sunday, March 18 at 3 p.m. in Bristol Chapel on the Westminster campus. John Burkhalter will be joined by fellow Practitioners of Musick Janet Palumbo, David Black, John Orluk and members of the Colonial Assembly. Verdi "Requiem" Performed by Westminster Symphonic Choir, Westminster Festival Orchestra March 24

The Verdi “Requiem” will be presented by the Westminster Symphonic Choir and Westminster Festival Orchestra on Saturday, March 24 at 8 p.m. in the Princeton University Chapel. The performance will be conducted by Joe Miller, with Eric Plutz, organist, and soloists Sharon Sweet, soprano; Melanie Sonnenberg, mezzo-soprano; Scott McCoy, tenor, and Simon Estes, bass-baritone. Westminster Conservatory Showcase March 25

Westminster Music Theater Presents "The Music Man" March 30, 31 and April 1

Westminster Music Theater is presenting “The Music Man” on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 30, 31 and April 1 in The Playhouse on the Westminster campus. Artistic directors are Michael Pantone and Laurie Gamache, choreography is by Laurie Gamache, the music director is Cris Frisco and the book, music and lyrics are by Meredith Willson and Franklin Lacey. It is the story of that man and his 76 trombones, and the wonderful, wonderful tune he played on every heart in town. A con man comes to a Midwestern town with a scam using a boys marching band program, but things don’t go according to plan.
