Celebrate Westminster: Reunion 2007 May 10 -12
Westminster alumni and friends will gather on campus
May 10 to 12 to celebrate and reconnect.
In addition to many milestone-reunion gatherings, participants
will enjoy Joe Miller’s first Alumni Reunion performance
with the Westminster Choir and the 10th Anniversary performance
of Voice Versa, Westminster’s home-grown male acappella
ensemble from the 1990s. Young alumni from the past 15 years are
also invited to continue the celebration at the Yankee Doodle
Tap Room at the Nassau Inn.
Friday’s activities will include the traditional Alumni
Chapel Service, which will feature the Westminster Concert Bell
Choir conducted by Kathleen Ebling-Thorne ’85 and the Westminster
Jubilee Singers conducted by J. Donald Dumpson. Following the
service, choral ensembles and music theater students will present
an engaging showcase featuring excerpts from the year’s
performances. New Director of Choral Activities Joe Miller will
be the special guest speaker at the Alumni Association’s
Annual Meeting and luncheon.
Friday afternoon the Class of 1957 will dedicate a tree planted
in memory of deceased class members. Also on Friday afternoon,
alumni and friends will pay tribute to long-time organ faculty
member Eugene Roan MM’56, who died last year. Following
the tribute, the Friends of Talbott Library will host a reception
celebrating his life.
The afternoon will conclude with an update on the College and
Rider University presented by Rider University President Mordechai
Rozanski and Westminster Dean and Director Robert Annis. The Annual
Alumni Banquet will be held once again at Greenacres Country Club
in Lawrenceville. Four alumni will be recognized for their accomplishments:
Sang Soo Kwak MM’63; Eugene Wilson MM’63; Helene Schneidermann
’77; and Fred Elder ’57.
Westminster’s Commencement will be held on Saturday morning
in the Princeton University Chapel. Ronn Carroll ’56, a
successful actor in the theater, film and television, will present
the Commencement address. This is the first graduating class of
music theater majors, and his presence will be especially meaningful.
Andrew Megill MM’89, associate professor of conducting,
will deliver the Charge to the Graduating Classes. An honorary
Doctor of Music degree will be presented to Donald E. Allured,
founding conductor of the Westminster Concert Bell Choir.
A post-Commencement reception with light refreshments will be
held on the Morgan Quadrangle on the Westminster campus.
