Rider Community Participates in "The Cali March"

Nearly 600 Rider students, faculty and staff walked April 23 in memory of Gary L. DeVercelly, Jr., who passed away tragically on March 30 in an alcohol-related incident. The brothers of Sigma Pi Epsilon organized the march to raise awareness on the dangers of binge drinking. The march started in front of Moore Library and followed the path to Poyda Residence Hall, the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity house, and back to the library’s steps. The march, named in honor of DeVercelly, nicknamed “Cali,” who hailed from California, raised $10,000 in donations that will be used to help fund an annual freshman scholarship.
