Westminster Symphonic Choir Will Perform Rossini's Petite Messe Solonnelle on March 8
The Westminster Symphonic Choir, conducted by Timothy
Brown, will perform Rossini's Petite Messe Solonnelle
at Bristol Chapel on Wednesday, March 8 at 8 p.m. The work, which
Rossini called the "last mortal sin of my old age," is considered
one of the composer's greatest, although it is neither small nor
particularly solemn. The work will be performed in its original
setting, for choir, two pianos, and organ, rather than the more
commonly heard orchestral arrangement. Tickets are $15 for adults
and $5 for students and seniors and are available through the
Westminster Box Office at (609) 921-2663. Students, faculty and
staff receive one free ticket with a valid Rider ID.
The Unicorn, The Gorgon, and The Manticore Performances are March 10 and 11
The children of the Westminster Conservatory's The
Actors Company (Nathan Brewer, director) and
the Westminster Conservatory Youth Chorale (Frank Abrahams,
conductor) will present Gian-Carlo Menotti's madrigal fable The
Unicorn, The Gorgon, and The Manticore on Friday, March 10
and Saturday, March 11 at 8 p.m. in The Playhouse on the Westminster
campus. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors
and can be purchased through the Westminster Box Office at (609)
921-2663. Students, faculty and staff receive one free ticket
with a valid Rider ID.
Westminster Schola Cantorum Will Perform in Robbinsville on March 11
Westminster Schola Cantorum, conducted by
Sue Ellen Page, will present a special preview of their
March concerts in Boston on Saturday, March 11 at 8 p.m. at Robbinsville
High School, 155 Robbinsville-Edinburg Road, in Robbinsville,
NJ. The program will include works by Gerald Finzi, Claudio Monteverdi,
Undine Moore and Moses Hogan. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10
for students and seniors and can be purchased through the Westminster
Box Office at (609) 921-2663. Students, faculty and staff receive
one free ticket with a valid Rider ID.
Westminster Conservatory at Nassau Concert is March 16
At 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, the trio
Serenata will present a free half-hour recital in the Niles
Chapel of Nassau Presbyterian Church, 61 Nassau Street in Princeton.
The members of Serenata -- Katherine McClure,
flute; Melissa Bohl, oboe; and James
Day, guitar --are faculty members of Westminster Conservatory.
The ensemble will perform the Canyon Echoes of Katherine
Hoover for flute and guitar, Uirapurú by Tom Eastwood
for oboe and guitar, and the Eclogues of Mario Castelnuovo
Tedesco for flute, English horn and guitar. The recital is part
of the series Westminster Conservatory at Nassau.
