MLB Debut with Baltimore
James Hoey became the second former Rider
University pitcher to reach the major leagues this season when the
Baltimore Orioles called him up Wednesday. He made his debut that
night against the Minnesota Twins at Camden Yards. Kevin
Barry '01 made his major league debut with the Atlanta

Memoriam - Richard L. Deni
It is with regret that Rider University announces the passing on
August 12 of Dr. Richard L. Deni, professor of
psychology, who was a member of the psychology faculty for 28 years.
The family requests that donations be made to the Urban Ecology
Institute, LEAH Mentor Fund. LEAH stands for Leadership through
Education Action and Hope, and is named in honor of Dr. Deni’s
late daughter, Leah, who loved the earth and was dedicated to the

Memoriam - Caryn Wilson
Rider also announces the passing of Caryn Wilson,
a student in the College of Continuing Studies, on August 19, 2006.
Caryn, 19, passed away after a three-year battle with cancer. Born
in Princeton, she was a Lawrenceville resident all her life and
enjoyed her studies at Rider University. Memorial contributions
in Caryn’s name may be made to the Faith Development Center,
