Angelica Benitez ’89, G’92, director of the Student Support Services (SSS-STAR) program at Bloomfield College, and president of the New Jersey Hispanic Association for Higher Education (NJHAHE), received an award October 26 from the National Latino Scholars Institute for her numerous contributions to the Latino higher education, her leadership and stewardship of the association and for being a role model for young people today. The award was presented at the Newark Club, where former Clinton administration commissioners and politicians were present. The keynote speaker was the Hon. Bill Richardson, governor of the state of New Mexico.
Dr. Jesse DeEsch, associate professor of graduate education, received the Eminent Career Award from the Association for Specialists in Group Work (ASBW) in Montreal, Canada on April 1 at the American Counseling Association and the Canadian Counseling Association Convention. The award is presented to a member of the association that has been instrumental in providing leadership in recognition of outstanding activities and major contributions to the field of group work. The award is the highest presented to a member of the association. It is limited to one a year.
David Fehring, a sophomore accounting/finance major, has been selected for an internship at Deloitte & Touche, one of the big four accounting firms in the world. He will serve as an audit intern in the firm’s audit and enterprise risk services practice, based in the Princeton office. Fehring will embark on this two-year commitment in the fall. Tyco is the firm’s largest client.
Sonya Hart, an MBA student, and Korey Paff, a junior marketing major, were named 2006 New Jersey American Marketing Association (NJAMA) Collegiate Award winners along with other New Jersey MBA and undergraduate honorees at its 19th Annual Collegiate Awards Dinner. The students were honored for their leadership in marketing studies and activities. The program, which featured, Carolyn Everson, vice president of mtvU, MTV’s college network, was held April 4 at the Hanover Marriott in Whippany. NJAMA is the state-wide chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) that provides networking, events, information and professional development programs to AMA members in New Jersey. It is the largest organization in the state for the marketing professional.
